The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is named in honor of a pioneer in space astronomy who is recognized as the "Mother of Hubble" and for her Lego representation. However, in her time she achieved worldwide fame for her work on the structure of the galaxy, for her international science impact, for her focus on bringing new technologies to bear for astronomy, and for her establishment of policies that led to practices in NASA astrophysics maintained to this day. Rare is the professional astronomer working today who hasn’t been a beneficiary in some way of what she accomplished.
