Instruments

There will be two instruments available for science observations on Roman:

  1. Wide Field Instrument (WFI), a 0.281 deg2 camera over wavelengths 0.48 to 2.3 microns, with 8 imaging filters and both a slitless grism and prism. The SSC's role is the processing of all spectroscopic data and delivery of data products to the Roman archive.
  2. Coronagraph Instrument (CGI), an advanced technology demonstrator for future missions that will directly image Earth-like exoplanets. The SSC is responsible for CGI operations, data management and processing, and delivery of data products to the Roman archive.
