The Roman mission involves work by various institutions:
- The Roman Space Telescope Project Office is at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), which also oversees the work on the Wide Field Instrument (WFI), the Spacecraft Bus, and System Integration.
- NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) oversees the work on the Coronagraphic Instrument (CGI).
- IPAC, as the Science Support Center for Roman, is responsible for operations for the CGI, including commanding and performance monitoring, high-level data processing of the grism and prism data from the WFI, high-level data processing of the microlensing survey data from the WFI, curating telescope instrument and simulation efforts, and engaging the greater scientific community in preparing for science with the Roman Space Telescope.
- IPAC shares science support responsibilities with the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), which is the Science Operations Center for Roman, along with foreign partners and GSFC.
